Oil Solvent Extractables Content Apparatus for Oil and Petroleum Testing Equipment

The Petroleum Wax Oil Content Tester is designed to determine the oil content or solvent-extractable content in petroleum waxes. Oil content can affect important wax properties such as strength, hardness, and melting point.

The test sample is dissolved in methyl ethyl ketone or a 50:50 mixture of methyl ethyl ketone and toluene. The solution is cooled to precipitate the wax and then filtered. The oil content or solvent-extractable content of the filtrate is determined by evaporating the solvent and weighing the remaining residue.
