Tubular Reactor Teaching Equipment

Tubular reactors are continuously operated reactors that enable economical production of large product quantities with consistent quality. This tubular reactor is designed for practical experiments to study the function and behavior of a tubular reactor.

The reactor is mounted onto a suitable supply unit and securely positioned using two pins. Quick-release couplings allow easy connection between the reactor and supply unit. Two pumps deliver the reactants separately through individual nozzles into the reactor. The nozzle outlets are positioned within a T-piece so that the two reactants are mixed at the center of the T-piece.

The resulting mixture enters the helical tube, where the reactants undergo a chemical reaction. The mixture of product and unconverted reactants leaves the tube and is transferred into a collection tank. The retention time of the reactants in the tubular reactor can be adjusted through the pump speed.

The helical tube is positioned inside a water bath connected to the heating water circuit. This arrangement allows the influence of temperature on the reaction to be studied. Conversion in the tubular reactor is determined by measuring conductivity, while conductivity and temperature can be digitally displayed and recorded for further analysis.
