+91 98967 93832Cavitation refers to the formation of vapor bubbles in flowing fluids due to very low pressure. As the flow velocity increases, the static pressure of the fluid can fall to the vapor pressure, causing vapor bubbles to form. These bubbles are carried along with the flow and collapse when the static pressure rises above the vapor pressure as the flow velocity decreases.
This experimental unit is designed to demonstrate cavitation processes using a Venturi nozzle. Within the Venturi nozzle, pressure energy is converted into kinetic energy and vice versa. Vapor bubbles can form at the narrowest cross-section, allowing the cavitation process to be clearly observed.
The experimental unit features a transparent plastic Venturi nozzle for visualizing the flow process. Three pressure measuring points are provided at the inlet, narrowest section and outlet. The input pressure can be adjusted using an adjustable pressure reducing valve.
Flow rate and pressure can be controlled using ball valves located at the inlet and outlet of the pipe system. The pressure distribution inside the Venturi nozzle is displayed using three manometers. Flow rate is measured with a rotameter, while the fluid temperature is measured directly upstream of the Venturi nozzle and displayed on a thermometer.
