Centrifugal Pumps Teaching Equipment

Centrifugal pumps are turbomachines used for conveying fluids. This experimental unit is designed to study the operation of a centrifugal pump and record its characteristic pump curve.

The unit includes a self-priming centrifugal pump, a ball valve on the outlet side and manometers on both the inlet and outlet sides. The pump is driven by an asynchronous motor, with continuously adjustable speed through a frequency converter. The ball valve allows adjustment of the pump head.

During experiments, the operating behavior of the pump is studied as a function of flow rate and represented using characteristic curves. The motor speed and electrical power consumption are displayed digitally, while the inlet and outlet pressures are shown on two manometers.

The experimental unit can be positioned easily and securely on a suitable base module. The pump draws water from the storage tank of the base module, while the flow rate is determined volumetrically by returning the water to the measuring tank.
