Comparison of Various Heat Exchangers Teaching Equipment

Comparison of Various Heat Exchangers is designed for practical investigation and comparison of five different types of heat exchangers. The system allows parallel-flow or counter-flow operation to be selected using valves, while flow rates can be adjusted for different experimental conditions.

The setup includes electromagnetic flow meters for hot and cold water, a portable differential pressure sensor for water and a fixed differential pressure sensor for air to determine volumetric flow rate. Digital displays provide readings for temperature, differential pressure and flow rate.

Five different heat exchanger configurations are available for comparative studies, including plate, tubular, shell-and-tube, finned-tube and stirred-tank heat exchangers with double jacket and coiled tube. A hot water generator and water chiller are available for supplying the required working fluids.

PC-based software supports data acquisition via USB for recording and analyzing experimental results.
