Fundamentals of Wind Power Plants Teaching Equipment

Fundamentals of Wind Power Plants is designed for practical teaching and demonstration of the basic principles of wind power generation. The system features a gearless wind power plant with a three-blade rotor, variable-speed generator system and adjustable rotor blade and yaw angles.

Power regulation is achieved through rotor blade adjustment, with interchangeable rotor blades provided for investigating different rotor blade profiles. An adjustable-speed fan generates the required airflow for practical experiments.

Sensors are used to measure wind velocity, rotor speed and yaw angle. The system can be controlled and operated via PC using software as well as through the control elements on the experimental unit.

The system also supports network-based operation, allowing experiments to be observed, acquired and analyzed from multiple workstations through a LAN/WLAN network. A detailed online e-learning course on the fundamentals of wind power is also available for remote learning.
