Operating Principle of a Pelton Turbine Teaching Equipment

Operating Principle of a Pelton Turbine is designed for practical investigation and demonstration of turbine operating principles and hydraulic power conversion. The system features a closed water circuit with a pump, motor, flow control valve and water tank with optional cooling.

The multistage centrifugal pump operates at variable speed through a frequency converter, while the flow rate can be adjusted using the flow control valve. The turbine can be loaded by using an asynchronous machine as a generator.

The turbine rotor and guide vanes are completely visible for direct observation of water flow and turbine operation. Adjustable guide vanes allow different angles of attack to be set for practical investigation.

Non-contact speed measurement at the generator shaft and a force sensor are provided for measuring turbine operating parameters. Temperature, pressure, flow rate, torque, speed and generator power can be measured during experiments.
